America Higher Education Development, the parent company of Stauzenberger Colleges in Ohio, Rockford Business College, Illinois and the Media Institutes of Minneapolis MN and Madison WI, takes great pride in providing their students with a skill-based education that result in professional employment. The Career Services teams of each campus work diligently to secure employment opportunities for all graduates.

During the Month of November, 19 graduates began new careers with the assistance of AHED faculty and staff.

Alumni Spotlight – Mike Jones

Congratulations to Mike Jones, our latest Alumni Spotlight! Mike is a Video Producer/Director at Vortex Optics. His job duties include writing and developing video concepts, as well as overseeing video projects from pre to post production. He collaborates with producers and assists throughout the production process. After completion of a project Mike follows various web platforms to track public reception of the video.

MADISON MEDIA INSTITUTE WINS “BEST OF SHOW” IN Media Communications Association International STUDENT AWARDS

November 13, 2015 – Madison, WI

On Thursday, November 12, the Media Communications Association – International in Madison (MCA-I Madison) announced award winners for outstanding and exceptional student work in the Madison chapter.   Best of Show WAVE Award was presented to Madison Media Institute’s Josh Landowski and J. Scott Kunkel for their work Skate Madison. MCA-I is an organization of media communications professionals that provides opportunities for networking, forums for education and the resources for information globally.

Halloween at RCC

On October 29th Rockford Career College celebrated Halloween by having staff and students bring their families to the school for trick-or-treat. Over fifty kids had a great time at the event. Jaiden and her mom, Danielle Harriott, both dressed up as police officers. Jaiden “captured the heart” of the “Hulk Mike O’Herron”. As you can see, staff at Rockford are a real family.

 

New Corporate Librarian for AHED

Please join me in welcoming Lori Van Liere as our new Corporate Librarian for the AHED family of schools.  Effective today, October 26, 2015, Lori will be operating as librarian for the Maumee Stautzenberger campus and additionally, will be performing duties as corporate librarian which will include:

 

  •  Creating effective inter-campus library working relationships;
  •  Providing training, either face to face or via technology, in library services to librarians, library coordinators and other appropriate staff throughout the AHED system;
  • Maintaining and sharing library use statistics within and across campuses;
  • Maintaining and sharing inventory control systems for the library system;
  • Conducting monthly library services calls with campus library personnel;
  • Systemizing the library cataloging software and training across AHED campuses;
  • Providing counsel to AHED leadership that reflects current needs and future trends in libraries as they relate to AHED’s mission and vision;
  • Collaborating with campus administrators to ensure an effective and consistent library experience across all campuses including information and conventional literacy training and development;
  • Overseeing the training of campus library staff;
  • Maintaining currency through appropriate professional development activities for self and making recommendations for other library staff relative to professional development needs

All of the above and more library-related activities will be completed in conjunction with the appropriate campus personnel.  As Corporate Librarian, Lori will be reporting to me but will maintain a reporting relationship with her supervisor at the Maumee campus,  which is also where her general working office will be.

Lori has done a great job as campus librarian for Maumee and I look forward to working with her in the position of Corporate Librarian for the AHED schools.
